Modern cities require integrated digital infrastructures capable of collecting, processing and visualizing data from heterogeneous sources to support better decision-making. Abinsula contributed to the Cagliari Smart City project by developing and integrating the technological platform that connects environmental sensors, IoT devices and intelligent monitoring systems into a unified urban ecosystem, enabling data-driven governance and more efficient public services
Abinsula supported the design and integration of the smart city platform, enabling the collection of environmental and urban data from hundreds of distributed IoT devices deployed across the city. The solution combines cloud technologies, sensor integration and centralized data management to provide a single operational view of environmental conditions and urban dynamics. The platform supports real-time monitoring, historical analysis and decision-making through a centralized Control Room, helping the municipality improve sustainability, optimize public services and address challenges such as the urban heat island effect.
The Municipality of Cagliari promoted one of Italy's largest Smart City initiatives focused on environmental monitoring and digital urban governance. Developed in collaboration with technology partners, research institutions and telecommunications providers, the project deploys more than 500 IoT sensors across over 300 locations, creating a city-wide digital infrastructure that supports sustainability, environmental monitoring and smarter public services.
