Mediterranean agroecosystems are increasingly exposed to climate-related risks, requiring reliable data to support sustainable land management and nature-based solutions. Within the DRYAD project, Abinsula contributes as an Agritech technology provider, supporting the deployment of environmental monitoring systems designed to collect data on weather, soil and vegetation conditions.
Abinsula provides and configures LoRaWAN-based sensor systems, a technology particularly suitable for rural contexts thanks to its wide coverage, low power consumption and reduced maintenance needs. The collected data supports the analysis of environmental conditions, the evaluation of agricultural practices and the planning of nature-based interventions aimed at improving resilience, preserving biodiversity and reducing fire risk.
DRYAD is a Horizon Europe research project coordinated by an international consortium to strengthen the resilience of Mediterranean agro-silvo-pastoral ecosystems through nature-based solutions. In Italy, the project involves the University of Sassari, contributing scientific expertise in environmental research, and Fondazione AlberItalia, a non-profit organization dedicated to sustainable forest management, biodiversity conservation and climate resilience. Together, they promote innovative approaches that combine environmental monitoring, scientific research and sustainable land management.
